Update: Finally, after long delay Lenovo X60 Tablet PC is on sale.

Update: On March 23 Lenovo has updated it’s K-12 hardware price lists. Reference to ThinkPad X60s Tablet was removed and normal x60 laptop put in it’s place. If you want to see original Feb. 02 K-12 pricelist click here for *.pdf. In late March the Core Duo ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC resurfaced on French retailers site.

During CES and soon after it we heard a lot of announcements of Core Duo notebooks from all the major PC vendors. Now more and more models are appearing on the market. However most of the OEM’s were surprisingly silent on Tablet PC front. Only Toshiba was able come up with Portege M400 Tablet PC.

Given significant power savings and efficiency of the new Intel chip it seemed to be the perfect fit for ultra portable Tablet PC needs. Our conclusion was that laptop manufacturers are waiting for even more efficient Intel chip - low voltage L2400 processor - to be used in their ultra portables. Today we were able to confirm this speculation with Lenovo’s X Series tablet.

While browsing Lenovo’s site we found this Canadian K-12 hardware update. In the Tablet PC section on page 16 was Core Duo ThinkPad X60s model with Tablet PC OS. At a price tag of Canadian $ 3181.55 (US$ 2774) it features:

12.1″ XGA Display (1024×768)

While most Core Duo ThinkPad X60s models are simple ultraportable laptops, this one was clearly featured in Tablet PC section and had a Tablet PC OS. Therefore we are pretty confident that it is a Tablet. There was no shipping date provided for this model, but we think we can expect official Lenovo announcement at by CEBIT.
