Fujitsu is not the only one who is looking for the right size for the ultraportable. Asus seems to be on a search of it’s own.
Only this year it has announced SideShow Ultraportable Asus W5Fe, not to mention Leather Clad Ultraportable Asus S6F or Asus R1F Tablet PC and other ultraportables from last year.
Now Asus is preparing to release another cool and extremely portable notebook. This time it’s 0.8 kg, 11.1″ Asus U1F. Covered in black enamel paint this ultra light notebook will have very bright LED display and will come equipped with:

Intel Core Solo ULV U2400 CPU
512 MB of memory
40-80 GB 1.8″ SATA HDD
11.1″ WXGA (1360×768) LED Display
External DVD multi writer
0.3 megapixel built-in camera
Windows Vista OS
and 2 hrs battery time (with standard battery)
External optical drive? Only 2 hours of battery time even with Core Solo ULV chip? Well, it’s not much. But hey, you have to sacrifice something if you want cool looks and extreme portability. And Asus U1F definitely falls into extremely portable notebook category.
Asus U1F laptop should go on sale this march for as yet undetermined price.
